About My Work

I build and repair systems for real people. My work sits where business operations, technology, and human lives intersect — taking complex legal, financial, and technical structures and turning them into workflows that are clear, usable, and humane.

Over the years I’ve managed a law office, run a bookkeeping and tax practice, organized large-scale advocacy campaigns, coordinated healthcare and logistics work, and designed learning systems for both adults and kids. The common thread is simple: I make systems make sense, especially when the stakes are high and the conditions aren’t ideal.

What I Do Best

  • Diagnose messy, confusing workflows and redesign them into clear, step-by-step processes people can actually follow.
  • Translate legal, financial, and technical language into plain, accurate explanations tailored to the audience.
  • Design documentation, templates, and tools so systems are not just fixed once, but stay maintainable over time.
  • Use data and modern tools — including AI — to support decision-making, planning, and operational efficiency.
  • Coach people through complex systems, whether that’s probate, taxes, gig work, homeschooling, or new technology.

Snapshot of Experience

My career isn’t a straight line; it’s a network of systems I’ve learned from the inside. Each role taught me something different about how organizations and people really work — and how to rebuild structure when things fall apart.

  • Independent Logistics & Operations Management: Multi-platform delivery and rideshare operations (DoorDash, Uber, Instacart, Spark, Amazon Flex and others), using route data, market signals, and AI tools to plan work, control costs, and keep performance strong in real time.
  • Bookkeeping & Tax Practice Owner: Seven years running an independent practice focused on complex individual situations — cancellation of debt, bankruptcy, fintech investments, and cryptocurrency — with a strong emphasis on clear explanations and meticulous compliance.
  • Law Office Management & Probate Specialist: Modernized a general practice law firm from paper-heavy to digital workflows, implemented e-filing, researched case law, drafted documents, handled billing, and guided clients through emotionally difficult legal processes from start to finish.
  • Organizing, Training & Advocacy: Field manager, trainer, and organizer for Working America (AFL-CIO), leading crews, building training, and helping thousands of working people understand economic issues and take effective civic action — from voting to writing impactful letters to lawmakers.
  • Healthcare & Retail Operations: Emergency Department Registrar (patient intake and record accuracy under pressure) and retail Closing Manager/Keyholder (cash control, nightly operations, and team leadership).
  • Education & Community Leadership: Homeschool educator, mentor to other parents and gig workers, and co-founder of a long-running community race series — designing structures where people can show up, participate, and succeed.

Documents & Deep Dives

This site will eventually host live, always-current versions of my master resume, extended career narrative, and additional materials for employers, recruiters, and collaborators. For now, you can request them directly and I’ll send the latest versions.

If you’d like to review my background in more detail, I’m happy to share:

  • Master Resume: tailored for systems-focused roles across business operations, IT, and legal/financial environments.
  • Career Narrative: a long-form biography that walks through the systems I’ve built, rebuilt, and held together through major life events.

What’s Coming Next

This site is the foundation for a more interactive way to get to know my work. I’m currently building:

  • Scheduling & Engagement: A space where you’ll be able to book time with me directly for consulting, project work, or exploratory conversations about roles and collaborations.
  • Integrated Payment Options: Simple, transparent ways to retain me for short-term systems design, documentation, or process-audit work.
  • AI “Interview Jessica” Experience: A custom chatbot that lets you explore my background, ask scenario-based questions, and “interview” me using structured knowledge drawn from my resume and narrative.

If you’re interested in any of these options before they’re live, you can still reach out — I’m already doing this work, and the site is catching up.

Let’s Talk

If you’d like to talk about a role, a project, or a system that needs rebuilding, the easiest way to start is a short conversation. Tell me what isn’t working, what you’re trying to achieve, and I’ll help you see the structure in it.
